What is it? That feeling that I the individual need to run something for myself? What is that drive?

I the writer of this page will not be able to answer that for you. What I can tell you is some of the common problems that people run into when starting a new business.

Budget.

Like many small business owners, you probably have no budget and are already working a 9-5 or a 10-6. Whatever you position there is a cost-effective way to handle your initial growth. If you have it in your head that you are required to have a massive rental space to start with your business idea; please cast that notion aside.

This is where I get a little more to the point of what we do here at Brilliance. First and for most is getting you a good-looking web presence so you can afford to grow into physical space. In 2018 you do not need all the overhead to look and act like a professional organization. You just need someone to help you determine where to put your next food in this ever-evolving concept of building a business.

Do I need an X?

Website, Facebook Page, Google Listing, Twitter, Instagram???

Like many home grown companies you might be thinking you need all these things and more to be a player in “your space”. The reality is that there are so many eye balls on so many different feeds of information; that what you really need is a guiding hand to help you place yourself in the most visible position in your market. This varies from company to company.

SEO & Being number 1 on Google.

You may have had the marketing calls that come in 3 times a day with some nice sounding Indian man explaining to you that he can make your number 1 on google if you will just wire him $3,000 via western union (Don’t do this). Like anything it is a gamble. Anyone who guarantees a listing on the first page of google is selling snake oil. In fact, most of the time a number one position on google is not what your business/brand needs to drive sales. Ranking for niche terms based on your industry is going to be a heck of a lot more effective then attempting to usurp the mattress king that has been in business for 40 years in your home town.  The thing to take away from this is you need to get the most valuable eye balls at the portion of the sales process that would have them reach out to you. It is more important that some artificial 1st place.

Don’t I need a blog?

You need dynamic content. That is a really nice way of saying you need a blog. The other thing is you need to make sure the content is original. The original their referees to the fact that you can do something called remixing where you look at what a competitor is another market or in your market is doing and amend, add to or otherwise make it your own. This is not the type of academic’s plagiarism you need to worry about but a very specific type that google uses to rank people.

I am going to attempt to make the worse metaphor in the world for dynamic content. Imaging that the floor you’re standing on is all the google viewers in the world. Now imaging that you take a glass of water and set it on the floor. In this metaphor the glass of water is your content of your typical 5-page site. Now imaging you pour the water out on the ground it rushes to cover the entire floor. That is writing dynamic content. You have a much larger surface area for people to find you and your content; thus, you get more views from more niche people.

Don’t just write filler or think of content as a requirement. It is the most important part of this entire process
